MEDIUM: Table-sized freestanding sculpture

DESCRIPTION:

Prior to the widespread popularity of today’s automated harmonic transceivers, Mechanical Transceivers were once in widespread use. Today however, very few remain that are in fully working order. This mechanical transceiver is fully functional; including illuminators, tetrode image orthicon valve, signal flow polarizer, frequency tuner, valve ignitor, and of course the variable mechanical primer itself. There’s a lot going on in this steampunk style piece:

Light
-Switch to illuminate the clock.
-Switch to light up the vacuum tubes and gear assembly.
Sound
-Switch to activate the sound frequency generator.
-Switch to select the range of frequencies.
-Dial to tune to the frequency generator so specific frequencies
Action
-Switch to activate the motor, gear assembly, and fan mechanisms
-Knob to control the motor speed.
