In 2012 when a friend said my work looked like Steampunk art, I had to ask what he meant. I was happily surprised to learn there were many others who have the same appreciation for traditional 19th century materials; especially the precision required for high-end design, machining, and manufacturing. Pursuing precision (and its associated properties like exactness, tolerance, durability, repeatability) can result in devices that are aesthetically interesting. But then, when combined with purposeful and stylistic intentions, the designs and devices were often remarkable. It is this mechanical precision that continues to spark my curiosity.
